18°32'N 24°04'W - During those long windless hours yesterday, I tried to kill some time by dropping my fishing line into the water. And it didn't take long before I actually caught one!
It was a 60 cm long, shiny yellow and blue one, looking very p.o. when I pulled it up. Now what?!
As I wrote before, this would be the very first fish I have caught in my entire life. And I am not even a big fish eater, but I really wouldn't know what to do with a live one. And because the rest of the crew either didn't know too, or didn't trust its bright colors for putting it on their plate, we let it go again and saw it swim off.
Last night we got a lot more fish, landing - almost literally - in our laps. You can imagine what a scary surprise it is when in complete darkness such a fish smacks down at your feet. Especially when you're fully concentrated on making as much speed, without "hitting any poles". Supposedly these flying fish are very tasty. But since the need is not that high, for now I prefer a pre-cooked one, on a plate. Maybe tomorrow, on the Cape Verdes?
KeeS seems to be flying too: she is currently doing a steady 6,5 knots up against a SW wind. We have been driving her like this for the last 17 hours. And if this wind keeps up, and the crew does too, we should be in Porto Grande, São Vicente tomorrow early in the morning.
Sadly, I had to close all comments. (Thanks to all the
