24°40'N 21°05'W - I think I am getting the hang of our watch system. But the weather, that's something else.
Yesterday was a nice day for sunbathing. There wasn't much wind, so we tried the second spinnaker, and mended the holes found in the first yesterday. And again, we used too much of our sparse diesel during a few too many motor hours. This did matter even more, as we had discovered that the boat was leaking seriously.
Later that day we found out that the leak was in our spare water tank, which had lost about 100 liters into our bilges. (This was also a big disappointment of course, especially for those of us intending to keep up her normal showering habits. ;-)
Last night after Fiona's very special, very good lasagna, and a couple hours of sleep, I was on watch again. 'The dog watch' as they call it. And it was.
On our radar we could see the pitch dark blanket covering the horizon behind us, were big clouds of rain coming in fast. To our starboard side we could even see distant but bright flashes of lightning.
In my foul weather gear, I was hosed down by the tropical shower (called a squall) that lasted about an hour and had brought plenty of wind. But my joy of speeding up the KeeS to 8,4 knots was rudely destroyed by what could have ended up as a real disaster: an unexpected and very unwanted gibe, which noise shook André out of bed and on deck in his shorts within a second.
Rob and I continued our watches together in rainier, but less windy showers, with only the genoa furled out depending on the wind of the moment. Around 0400, there wasn't any wind left so I left Rob to burn up some diesel by him self.
Sadly, I had to close all comments. (Thanks to all the
